FIGHTING INVISIBILITY IN K-12 EDUCATION

American school systems are one of the first places non-Native people are introduced to Native peoples, cultures, and histories. Unfortunately, school curriculum on Native peoples is often inaccurate and limited in scope. In our closing research, 44% of respondents said their education about Native peoples did not cover anything past the year 1900.
In partnership with the National Indian Education Association, Amplifier, and Nia Tero, we developed online education activity guides and lesson places to support educators in increasing the visibility of Native peoples, including contemporary representation, in their curricula.
